Praises and Prayer Requests for 11/26/06

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it” (William Arthur Ward). During this Thanksgiving holiday, the missionary team would like to express our thankfulness for your weekly gift of prayer. May God also bless you in a special way.

Praises:
· We thank God for touching Dwight’s body. On Tuesday morning the kidney stone passed after he attempted a home remedy. You must drink a six pack of Coca Cola within 2 hours, then eat a pound of asparagus, and then over the next 24 hours drink at least a gallon of water. It worked!
· Thank you for your prayers for the national leadership-training event last weekend. 67 pastors attended. Each of the 6 expositors did a tremendous job presenting the new John Maxwell Leadership materials. There were many positive testimonies of what the event meant to each one.

Pray for:
· We request immediate, urgent prayer for Marion Rich, Dwight’s mother. Marion passed out on Wednesday evening and was taken to the hospital. Through a series of events she had a seizure and is in ICU. She seems to be stable. Last week and into this week she had been suffering with flu. Thank you for praying.
· Pray for our graduating seminary students as they finish their final projects and prepare to leave the seminary to serve. Pray also for all participants in the upcoming graduation service, Friday, 12/1.

Continued Prayer Requests:
· Luis (Lucho) Flores, one of our construction workers, as he recovers from a broken collarbone.
· Bruce McKellips as he continues to recover from rotator cuff surgery.
· Craig and Gail Zickefoose while they’re on home assignment.
· The leadership throughout Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela as they seek to do God’s will.

Prayer Requests and Praises for 11/17/06

Dear North Andean Field prayer partners,
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thess. 5:16-18). What joy we have in knowing our activities are bathed in your prayers!

Praises:

We are thankful for the Missouri Work & Witness team that was here last week along with all of the Work & Witness teams that have worked alongside us this year to further the kingdom in Ecuador and Venezuela.

Prayer Requests:

· This weekend we have a national leadership training event beginning this evening (Friday) and ending mid-day on Sunday. We will be sharing the second notebook in John Maxwell’s Million Leader Training Mandate. All pastors are invited. Please help us pray for traveling safety for the participants, for God’s holy presence to fill our meetings throughout the entire conference, and for the speakers to be effective and the attendees to be challenged.

· Luis (Lucho) Flores, one of our construction workers, was hit by falling structure on the Zabala church construction site and broke his collarbone. Let’s pray for a speedy recovery.

· Last week members of the IBOE (International Board of Education) performed an overall evaluation of our seminary. We met or exceeded several criterion but also need to improve in some areas. Please pray for wisdom for our seminary leaders as we strive to meet these goals while providing the necessary training for our future leaders in the North Andean Field.

Continued Prayer Requests:

· Bruce McKellips as he continues to recover from rotator cuff surgery.

· Craig and Gail Zickefoose while they’re on home assignment.

· The leadership throughout Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela as they seek to do God’s will.

Prayer Requests and Praises for 10/27/06

Praises:
The leadership training last week was absolutely dynamic. We thank God for his presence and direction.

Prayer Requests:
Did you know that 728 people are currently taking Nazarene courses, including extension courses being held throughout our field? Please keep these students in your prayers. Many are full-time pastors who are working toward their ordination credentials. Almost all of our students have financial constraints or other hardships. Praise God for their obedience and perseverance.

Prayer Requests from our Venezuelan leadership:

  • The leadership of the Church of the Nazarene throughout Venezuela
  • A new national strategy
  • Our pastors and their families
  • Our missionaries and their families, including our Mission Corp volunteers
  • District and local presidents in the areas of NYI, NMI and education
  • Craig and Gail Zickefoose on furlough in the USA

Continued Prayer Requests:
Please continue to keep the Baker family in your prayers. The motor on their new vehicle has been rebuilt but we need help to cover the $2200 cost as this was completely unexpected. If the Lord speaks to you about helping, donations may be routed through the NAF Partnership account. Please let us know by email if you send something so that we can track it. Pray also that the cumbersome process of passing inspections, getting drivers’ licenses, registering the car, etc., will go smoothly.

Pray for the recovery efforts in southern Ecuador after the last volcano eruption and for the Riobamba church as it continues to serve those in need.

Pray for the leadership throughout Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela as they seek to do God’s will in these countries.
