Prayer Requests and Praises for 10/20/06

Dear North Andean Field prayer partners,
Many of you responded to last week’s prayer email, letting us know that you were praying. You have our deepest gratitude for your faithfulness to our mission. May God bless you in a special way this week!

Praises:

  • The personal evangelism training in Shell, Ecuador, went well with 29 people praying for salvation. Please pray for these new converts. About 35 people attended the evangelism training and four seminary students participated in leading the sessions. Please pray that the training will not go void but that these fishermen will continue to catch new fish.

New Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for a national pastors and leaders retreat beginning Thursday evening and ending Saturday at noon (Oct. 19-21). We expect around 100 participants at our campgrounds in Santo Domingo. The senior pastor and three key leaders from our large church in Cali, Colombia, will lead the retreat. Help us pray for a great outpouring of God’s Holy Spirit upon us all.
  • We would like to request prayer on behalf of Tim and Jennifer Baker. Their assignment as Mission Corps volunteers is to promote and manage our conference center so that it can produce the finances for the Seminary as we believe that it can. They were able to raise some funding before they came which helped them purchase a vehicle for their ministry here.

In trying to pass the inspection process for licensing purposes, it has been discovered that a significant part of the motor needs to be overhauled. The motor is dismantled and parts are being purchased. It looks like the total cost is going to be around $2000. If the Lord would lead you to help the Bakers with this, please send a donation through the NAF partnership and label it for the Baker’s vehicle. (For specific instructions about sending donations, click on the “How to Support Our Ministry” link.) Thank you for praying for them during this frustrating time.
  • Pray for the safety of Mary Hall (missionary kid, age 13) who is traveling Thursday through Saturday (Oct. 19-21) to Guayaquil, Ecuador, for a soccer tournament with her school.

Continued Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for the recovery efforts in southern Ecuador after the last volcano eruption and for the Riobamba church as it continues to serve those in need.
  • Pray for the leadership throughout Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela as they seek to do God’s will in these countries.
  • Pray for the safety of each missionary family serving in the North Andean Field.
